The State Theater Mainz is a venue renowned for its vibrant cultural program, including opera, theater, and concerts. As one of the region’s most prominent cultural institutions, the State Theater has been a cornerstone of Mainz’s artistic life for over 180 years. Located in the heart of the city, the theater offers easy access for visitors, with the main train station and other transportation options just a short walk away. The Opening Reception will take place in the foyer and on the rooftop terrace with a stunning view across the city.

This event provides a great opportunity to network with peers in an informal, relaxed setting. It’s designed to help early career researchers meet new colleagues, share experiences, and strengthen their networks beyond the formal conference sessions. Everyone, not just early career researchers, is warmly welcome – we hope this evening will be a great opportunity to network and kick off a fantastic conference experience!

What to expect:

Venue: The Old Mail Depot is a unique venue next to Mainz’s main station that combines industrial charm with a vibrant atmosphere perfect for casual networking. With plenty of room for socializing it provides an ideal setting for students to relax, network, and enjoy the evening. The event is free to attend, but since it will take place in a bar, you may want to purchase a drink. A diverse selection of drinks will be available for reasonable prizes.

Who is invited: Everybody (young at heart <3).

The Illusion & Demo Night is an immersive event that brings the science of vision to life. It offers a range of interactive experiences from visual illusions to demonstrations of cutting-edge research techniques such as mobile eye tracking and virtual reality, all presented by researchers for researchers. Food and refreshments will be provided!
